As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role within our Data Engineering team. Our cutting-edge Machine Learning stack operates on on-demand containerised infrastructure, encompassing a spectrum from sub-second latency functions to longer-running batch compute and high-demand dedicated instances. As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will work collaboratively across cross-functional teams including data and cloud engineering, software development, and data analytics. Your role will involve leading complex data engineering projects, engaging with technical and functional stakeholders, and driving the production of ML models and data processing pipelines. With a minimum of five to seven years of experience across the Azure/AWS technology stack, you’ll bring expertise in mid-low level system design, hands-on implementation using Spark and other tech stacks, and shaping ML engineering culture and practices. Your ability to concisely break down complex high-level ML requirements, proactively identify blockers, and maintain a pragmatic approach to decision-making will be key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the productionisation of ML models and data processing pipelines, encompassing mid-low level system design and hands-on implementations using Spark and other tech stacks.
  • Shape the ML engineering culture and practices around model and data versioning, scalability, model benchmarking, and ML-specific branching and release strategy.
  • Concisely break down complex high-level ML requirements into smaller deliverables.
  • Proactively identify blockers in other team members and provide prompt and effective solutions to unblock them.
  • Bring seniority and pragmatism to every line of code and decision-making, making trade-offs explicit and understandable to others
Required Skills and Attributes
  • 7+ years of coding experience, with at least 3 years as a Machine Learning Engineer and 2 years on Spark.
  • Deployed a number of ML services on various environments (3+).
  • Productionised on one cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Autonomous in getting things started and completed end-to-end with little to no supervision while maintaining alignment with product requirements.
  • Excellent communicator, capable of effectively engaging with both developers and higher-level team leads and managers.
